They are like cats and dogs!and the theory of opposites attrack is indeed true to them.
Onnel was assigned in China and Mongolia while Maia was in the Philippines.

Onnel: It was during the 13th YFC ILC in Davao City when i first experienced her "katarayan(bratness)". Mike and I always asked her for vitamins and coffee and she would just smile and give us freely.

Maia: but of course, im naturally kind and generous! :-)

Onnel: then one time, she asked for help for transport to buy some medicines for the clinic and mike told her that i'll drive her to the city.Unfortunately, i got a call to pick up some important guests in the airport so i wasnt able to go with her.No transpo, No meds.

Maia: actually, i didnt remember anything!

Onnel: the next time we went to the clinic, she offered mike coffee but not me!:-(
she didnt even talk to me at all. She gave me her "mataray"aura which irritated me.

Maia: honestly, i really didnt remember that! hehehehe!

Onnel: I said to myself, she was the only girl who did that to me so i'll get back to her and make cry!

Maia:if i know, he got attracted to me already and was charmed with my personality!hahahahaha

Onnel:really??? i wasnt!!!

Maia: for 2 years i prayed to the Lord to give me the opportunity to serve in other countries.and that whoever will my 1st mission partner be will be my lifetime partner. after ILC, i got a message from our YFC head that i have to prepare myself bcoz im leaving to Mongolia for a long-term mission.That day was one of the happiest days of my life.he then said that my partner is Ronnelle Tolentino.since i was overwhelmed with the news, i totally forgot about my prayer for a lifetime partner.

Onnel:i was excited to hear that atlast, i'll be having a mission partner, since i was alone for a year already.they just emailed me the name of PRINCESS MAYELLA SALCEDO and i kept on thinking who she might be. then i learned from our CFC Head that she is Maia, i laughed so hard coz i know that it is time for revenge!!!

Maia: My stay in Beijing was a learning experience for me.i learned to be dependent to onnel and that to be more patient and understanding. all those times, he was making his plans into realities.
We fight all the time, like cats and dogs.

Onnel: we were so different in a lot of things. we are north pole and south pole but the community in Beijing saw it differently.they teased us even more and prayed so hard for us to be together.

Maia: for the longest time, we always disagree in a lot of things.It was during our Shanghai trip that we got close to each other.since then, we started to share our past experiences and our hopes for the future.

Onnel: till one day, when we were having our family fellowship, maia got a text from her family that her brother was diagnosed of Leukemia and was in coma. i never saw her cried that much. she was so weak and fragile.

Maia: i was not of myself that night.it seemed that my world just stopped. and it was that night that he comforted me.he gave me his rosary to hold in one hand and he had my other one.

Onnel:the next day i brought her to the airport to go back to the Phils.since that day on, i cant stop thinking of her.

Maia: i lost my brother so i wasnt able to go back to China soon.he called me everyday to check if me and my family are ok. until he went home for Christmas holidays.

Onnel:the first time i saw her, i know i didnt just miss her but something more than that.we spent more time together and she intoduced me to her family. i was so nervous because i know it was different. we then learned that she's not going back to china coz she's going to Middle east for another 2-year mission.

Maia: i was excited to serve in another area but at the same time sad bcoz i know that i still have a lot of things to finish in China.

Onnel: then came the missionaries conference, i requested her to not to talk me to really discern about my feelings. after 3 days, i was sure of myself, I LOVE HER!

Maia: we then served together in an event and knew each other better. he then asked my mom for permission to court me.i was laughing then cause my mom was teary-eyed while giving us advice. but as always, we fought all the time despite the fact that he was still courting me. i honored him for being courageous enough for not putting his best foot forward during those times because he really wanted me to know who he really was.

Onnel: After the SFC ILC in Lanao, our coordinators from China invited us to be with them in Camiguin. It was last Feb.20, 2007 that she said her sweet and sincere Yes in the very romantic White Island, Camiguin.Since that day, I NEVER STOPPED LOVING HER.

Maia: He was an answered prayer! since the day he asked permission from my mom to court me till i said yes to him, I KNOW HE IS THE ONE!!!
